Diagrams for "Simple Dragon" ... and a stretch goal

I've been playing with the idea of doing a stretch goal for a while so here it is.  Last Wednesday I was speaking the translator in Japan via skype and while he is basically volunteering his services out of support for the effort (and with hopes that in time some money will be made back) it seems that even a down-payment for the Japanese/French translations would be in the neighborhood of $2k-$3k just to support the expenses that will come up in the translation process. So, that means, that if we make it to $10k in funding we'll have enough to get the ball rolling...

So the stretch goal is this -- when we make that level I'll release a rare set of diagrams that I did many years ago (as a volunteer) for Ronald Koh's beautiful Ankylosaurus.

Ronald has been generous enough to agree to have this model support the campaign and while I was intending to include it in the "Lost Diagrams" book only.  But I like the idea of making the release even larger -- It is an exquisite work which was way before it's time and should be out there more easily accessed.

So if you've flirted with the idea of increasing your pledge now is the time.  We've had several people increase their contributions from $25 to $50 so they can get two books, one for themselves and one for a friend.  Or consider "Grandmas Package Too" which is two books, two packs of beautiful paper, a hand folded Unicorn like in the video and the whole package will be gift-wrapped and shipped to separate addresses if you wish.  I would dearly love to see "Creating Origami" available in other languages.

Finally, there was so much positive response to yesterday's "Simple Dragon" I'm making the diagrams available on-line for the first time ever. I suppose I should be setting stretch-goals for every set of diagrams... but that's not really the way I roll.

I've felt so touched by the positive response and  love the way it looks in the photo -- Like a little fairy perched in my hand.  So I've decided I'd like it out there for everyone to share.

I'm very excited to see where this all leads for the community.  I've already agreed with "The Fold" to write two articles in the coming months, one on the rotoscoping process that I used to produce the "Six Intersecting Pentagrams" diagrams and another on the whole experience of running a Kickstarter campaign -- both in hopes of encouraging others to take my example and do an even better job!

So again, with deep appreciation and gratitude,
JC
