A Herd of Unicorns and some other details...

Hey All!

We've been SO busy behind the scenes here working out final details toward fulfillment and have some details and a few questions to pose.  Most of these will be addressed in the fulfillment questionnaires that I'll be submitting soon but in the mean time wanted to post some images of what we've been working toward.

1) A herd of Unicorns...

Here they are, the samples for the unicorns from "Grandma's Package"

I've nicknamed them Samui, Gus, Yoshi, Sparky and Candy (moving left to right.)  Here's the swatches:

Candy - Is a lovely feminine feeling critter with a silver horn, Sparky is from the video and has the gold and red crane pattern, Gus I created to have a more "Fathers Day" feel and I actually think he's one of my favorites.  Yoshi is the script version from the first image in the video.

Note: I've noticed in folding that the models in each of these first four papers do have a "personality of their own" when it comes to shaping and will likely need a little reshaping by the new owner once they've made it through the mail.  Because of that I've added the fifth model "Samui."

Samiu is folded from simple Thai Unrhu paper and as it is much thinner will not need as much shaping once through the mail.  So if you're a confident folder you can feel secure ordering any of the paper stocks but otherwise, you might choose the simpler model, which, like Andrea's Rose I'll be making available in 5 colors, Red, Black, White, Pink or Gold.

2) The George Lucas Syndrome...

A second thing I've been puzzling over has to do with the fact that technology has evolved so much over the past decade and whether to upgrade the book or just publish it in the form that it was originally in... along the lines of '77 Star Wars and the recent re-release.  The big question was is it better to leave something in the original form to stand as a representation of what was available then or upgrade it to the best and brightest.

A critical second consideration, of course, is that the original version can be released in a matter of weeks and the potential upgrade version is likely to take a few months to produce. There may be a few typos in the original, tweaks to the diagrams that are found in the mean time, etc which are likely to be found in the mean time.

After much consideration, I've decided to to both... I expect to be releasing the special limited edition contributor version in the next few weeks and sometime in the August time-frame (as planned) the updated version will be made available on wide-release via amazon and other regular channels.

And because I want to make sure that everyone's happy I'm giving all contributors the option of which version they can choose... and you'll get a chance to make your choice on the fulfillment questionnaires I'll be sending out shortly.

3) Tee Shirt stuff...

The manufacturer of our tee-shirts is being VERY flexible on our order and wanting to make the most options as possible for everyone but until we get a final count of exactly what everyone's preferences are we can't finalize the specifics of the order.

One of the things that makes determining the specifics is that Kickstarter only allows one poll per reward tier.  So it's not possible to send out a poll to get a general sense of preferences and then a second for final results.

Originally I was expecting that there would be no options, just "medium/black" so it's awesome that we're getting so many possibilities.  So I'll collect your data for preference" and do my absolute best to get you what you requested but there may be some tweaks here and there.

4) International Mailing...

It's turned out that International Mailing is much more of a BEAR from the US abroad than I'd expected.  Having traveled extensively in Asia in the past couple of years it's been a real surprise that getting things from there to here is WAY easier than getting things from here to there

But we're doing our best to sort it all out and learn as quickly as possible, in the mean time if there is ANYONE out there who does have experience/strategies/insight etc along the lines of International Mailing please do give send me a message... I'd love the support.

That's about all the news for now... time to get to yoga class and get my Ommmmm on!
