Lots of good news, a little treat and a little sad news...

Hey all,

Lots to report on this week the most exciting of which is I believe we've got a final draft for the new version of Creating Origami.  Hopefully, that means that we should have real copies of the book ready to go within a week or so and hopefully will start getting things into the mail soon after!

Secondly, this week there has been a lot of progress in collecting models/permissions for the Crawford Retrospective, the Lost Models and Stamm's Dragon books.  Somewhere last week the last three sets of diagrams for Crawford arrived in my in box from England and I've now what I believe is a complete set of what is at least the known models by Crawford - 42 models in all!  I'll be posting a model menu soon of what we've collected to help to confirm that we've not missed anything and to let people double-check against what they have in their own caches.  Big thanks go out to everyone who helped out in tracking down everything.

Next, as part of the material that was sent to me of the diagrams Jerry Harris provided me with a nice PDF of a special issue of The Origamian from the early 70's that featured a special interview with Crawford just prior to the release of Harbin's Origami: Step-by-step and features early diagrams of several of her models from that book as well as the unpublished Stellate Octohedron model (not to mention a brutal version of instructions for her Scorpion for the not-so-weak-of-heart.)

Next, a bit of sad news.  In collecting the permissions for distributing the Lost Diagrams ebook it appears that we've learned that, Russ Cashdollar, a good friend to the community and talented designer, passed away last year.

One of his models Bi-Color Cootie Catcher is to be included in Lost Models and was the inspiration of many of the models in my book.  I remember him from the old Washington Folders in DC from back in the day and spoke of him fondly in my book as one of my inspirations.

I've not been able to get direct confirmation from the family but it appears that it may be him. If anyone has direct confirmation one way or the other please do let me know.

Lots of other smaller updates to me made, but for now that's enough -- time for me to get back to work!
